Triathlon race organizers co-opted the name as a category for male racers over 220 pounds... although few have silky leg hair. We don't either, but we do see ourselves as heavy draft horses in spirit and sometimes in size.
Our members vary, ranging from 6 ft. 10 and 350 pounds to 5 ft. and one-third that weight. The age of our members follow the same course with those having more wisdom (approaching 70) to the less mature (middle-aged). None of these statistics matter to us; we invite all to join our cause.
Our mission is to raise funds for cancer and diabetes research by supporting the Bike to Beat Cancer for the Norton Cancer Institute and the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure. Inspired from the effect which these diseases have had on our lives, we see every day as a gift that should be filled with family, friends, goodwill, and laughter. We cycle, run, and swim. And we eat… A LOT - sometimes preparing for our hopeful win at the Tour de Donut.
